General gifts - Gifts to the General
Fund support the ongoing work of the Home.
- Memorial and Honor Gifts
- Gifts given in Honor of others through General Gifts and
Endowment Fund Gifts.
- Major Gifts
- Gifts of $1,000 and more. Major Donors may designate an
endowment of a room and/or the furnishing of a room. Plaques are placed listing the
donor and the honoree. Major Donors are invited to the annual Trustees Dinner.
- Planned Gifts

Wills and Bequests - The ministry of the Home is strengthened by those who
continue their support beyond their lifetime through their Will.
Gift Annuity Program - A vehicle for financial, retirement income and estate
planning that creates a contract between the donor and the National Lutheran Home based on
an irrevocable gift to the Home and a lifetime fixed income for the donor with additional
tax benefits.
Sarah Utermehle Society was established in 1990 to honor those persons who carry
on the legacy of Mrs. Sarah Utermehle, who 100 years earlier donated the land in
Washington, DC for the National Lutheran Home. Members have given a planned gift
such as a Gift Annuity or have indicated inclusion of the Home as beneficiary of their
estate.
- Combined Federal Campaign is another way to support the ongoing work of
the Home.
Washington Metropolitan Campaign - The
National Lutheran Home is asking for the support of Lutherans who are federal employees in
the Washington Metropolitan area. This Fall you can give to the Home by writing in
the number 12809 on your Combined Federal Campaign form. This number
must be written in. The Home is listed under the group heading "Local Voluntary
Agencies".
Central Maryland and Baltimore
Campaign - The National Lutheran Home is asking for the support of Lutherans who are
federal employees in the Central Maryland and Baltimore area. This Fall you can give
to the Home by writing in the number 5236 on our Combined Federal Campaign form. This number
must be written in. Federal facilities in the Combined Federal Campaign area are in
the counties of Baltimore, Harford, Howard, Carroll, Anne Arundel and Cecil.

Lutherans matching Gift Grant Program
matches the contributions of members. Forms and information available through the
Home's Development Office 301-424-9560 ext. 207.

A 2000 member Auxiliary
supports the ministry of the Home providing programs such as Pal's, monthly birthday party
luncheons and equipment for Physical Therapy. Memberships are available through

180 registered
volunteers provide the extras that further enrich the residents' quality of life.
Volunteers become involved with the lives of residents by getting to know them first
hand. They read to residents, share information, conduct discussion groups, assist
residents to the Chapel, Physical Therapy and other activities. Contact the Director
