Ways you can support NLH...

Financial Support Programs - contact the Development Office 301-424-9560 ext. 207

  • Endowment Fund - Endowment Fund gifts provide a permanent source of  income, equipping the Home to support residents whose funds have become depleted.
  • General gifts - Gifts to the General Fund support the ongoing work of the Home.
  • Memorial and Honor Gifts - Gifts given in Honor of others through General Gifts and Endowment Fund Gifts.
  • Major Gifts - Gifts of $1,000 and more.  Major Donors may designate an endowment of a room and/or the furnishing of a room.  Plaques are placed listing the donor and the honoree.  Major Donors are invited to the annual Trustees Dinner.
  • Planned Gifts -

Wills and Bequests - The ministry of the Home is strengthened by those who continue their support beyond their lifetime through their Will.

Gift Annuity Program - A vehicle for financial, retirement income and estate planning that creates a contract between the donor and the National Lutheran Home based on an irrevocable gift to the Home and a lifetime fixed income for the donor with additional tax benefits.

Sarah Utermehle Society was established in 1990 to honor those persons who carry on the legacy of Mrs. Sarah Utermehle, who 100 years earlier donated the land in Washington, DC for the National Lutheran Home.  Members have given a planned gift such as a Gift Annuity or have indicated inclusion of the Home as beneficiary of their estate.
