How many skilled nursing centers have a Chinese dragon visit for Chinese New Year? That’s just one of the ways we enliven the world of the people we serve. Skilled nursing care has been the centerpiece of our ministry for decades, and today, we continue to set the standard. The Lutheran approach, seen today at The Village at Rockville and coming to The Village at Orchard Ridge, offers all levels of skilled nursing care—from light to intensive—in smaller, more personal “neighborhoods.”  With four nurse managers for each small group, we staff to provide an intimate level of care. We continue to evolve our services in an atmosphere that strives to be increasingly warm and homey. We have:

• 80% private rooms
• A 24 hour visiting policy, pets welcome
• A robust activities schedule, with a major music enrichment program
• A Family Forum, plus quarterly planning meetings
• A full-time Chaplaincy for Bible study, worship services and spiritual care

We also have two full-time resident care advocates, who serve as the eyes and ears of the family and provide concierge service: getting newspaper and magazine subscriptions, buying items online, handling dry cleaning—in general, checking to make sure requests, large or small, get prompt attention.

We’re also embracing new technology as a way to provide better care. For example, electronic medical records (EMR): Through PointClickCare, the nursing staff can create more timely, accurate and complete documentation in less time—giving them more time to spend with your loved ones.
